A smiling bald man with glasses, wearing a short-sleeved dark shirt with a subtle pattern and a watch, stands against a wooden wall with his hands in his pockets.

I am a qualitative researcher based in the Niagara Region of Ontario.

My work is grounded in feminist and anti-racist understandings of sport and health while being situated at the crossroads of multiple academic disciplines: cultural studies, the sociology of sport, science and technology studies, media studies, and health studies.

I have spent the past decade researching the sociocultural dimensions of the 'concussion crisis' both within and beyond sports.

I have also worked on qualitative research projects examining the use of painkilling drugs in professional sports, the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on elite sports cultures, masculinity and men’s health, and much more. My research focuses on exposing inequities in sports and health, and finding ways to address social injustices across these domains.

I've recently started specializing in forms of digital scholarship.

This has involved the creation of interactive websites, podcasts, and other digital research outputs. This new direction is intertwined with my interests in audio production, sound studies theories and methods, and the social and technological histories of popular music.

I'm also a longtime musician.

I’ve played guitar since I was 10-years-old and have played in various bands since I was a teenager. One of my musical passion projects is curating the Small Victory Songs playlist – an eclectic genre-defying collection of music that I update every few weeks.
